What is a Wall Diagonal Corner Cabinet?

A wall diagonal corner cabinet is a cabinet designed to occupy a corner space while providing a diagonal transition for the cabinetry run’s face across the right angle of the corner. Wall diagonal corner cabinets are much large in dimensions than other typical wall cabinets because they are made in a trapezoidal dimension to all for traditional squared cabinets to butt up to each side from the perpendicular walls. The resulting diagonal cabinet uses the same sized door as the rest of the cabinetry run and thus does not break the symmetry of the run. However, when the door is opened and the cavernous space inside is revealed, it becomes necessary for cabinetry makers to outfit these with special modifications to make them practical and accessible.

The most common modification to the inside of a wall diagonal corner cabinet is the addition of a large lazy Susan. The round lazy Susan does waste some space since it is a round surface in a trapezoid shaped cabinet, but it is still the most popular choice because the uniquely deep dimension can make it very difficult to reach items set into the cabinets back corner area. Since the wall diagonal corner cabinet is such a large cabinet, it must be securely attached to the room’s framing at several locations and should not be filled to capacity with heavy items.
